Managing Director - Writersinc

About Ruth

I grew up in mainly in the English Midlands, where I studied to become a teacher. After a brief stint working in Denmark and South Africa, I arrived in Auckland. A few years and two children later, I re-ignited my career in education, enjoying teaching a wide variety of subjects to an even wider variety of pupils. In my final role as a Deputy Principal, I had a great opportunity to learn about leadership and the business and HR side of school-life.

I had always wanted to run a business, so in 1998 after a short and steep-learning initiation into the business of technical writing, I launched WritersInc, from a home office in Onehunga. Although I have extensive writing experience, and still take pleasure in creating logically structured, documents that are easy to understand, I am currently more inclined to work on short documents, delivering training courses, and scoping new projects.

I get a real buzz from WritersInc, especially when our team help clients win contracts, gain ISO or ACC WSMP accreditation, or improve productivity because their staff have access to clearly documented processes and procedures. We produce documents that work, and we always aim to create them on time and in budget.

Writing is time-consuming and so is running a business, but since I firmly believe life is for living, I make sure I keep up with family and friends, book clubs and choir, cycling and swimming, reading and relaxing but sadly these days no sailing or horse riding!
